What Did Ming Dynasty soldiers wear on their belt?
Kind of a large and nuanced answer, it depends on the job, but for the most part a sword or a bow was the necessity. It seems the standard was a bow, a sword, quiver, and a pouch of some sort was the main belt equipment for Chinese warriors of the 14th through the 17th century AD. What could I do better with my kit, what are some advantages I might not of said? What are some disadvantages?

During the Qing dynasty native Han archery became extinct instead Manchu archery was adopted Because the cultures associated with Chinese society spanned a wide geography and time range, the techniques and equipment associated with Chinese archery are diverse. The improvement of firearms and other circumstances of 20th century China led to the demise of archery as a military and ritual practice, and for much of the 20th century only one traditional bow and arrow workshop remained. However, at the beginning of the 21st century, there has been a revival in interest among craftsmen looking to construct bows and arrows, as well as a practice technique in the traditional Chinese style."

My updated understanding of the Jian Jing when applied to the shuangshoujian. Yu DaYou, when he wrote this, was inspired by his shuangshoujian training to create a staff manual that will apply to all 2 handed weapons during the 16th century. I believe this is the fundamental manual to understand chinese swordsmanship in that period and needs to be interpreted and understood by more people. I hope I am going in the right direction reviving the ming shuangshoujian and how it was applied in that time.
